Chae-yun Tale

In Jinhan, there was a mighty Chongun by the name of Chae-yun. He was a really old man, that by that time, used all his time to teach young people about the arts of the Sonbae. Although he was advanced in age, there was a legend that he was able to not be defeated any adversary.

One day, a warrior known by his total lack of scruple showed up. He was known by using the technique of provocation. He used to wait until his enemy did his first move and in a quick movement, he would attack them.

The young, impatient warrior has never lost a battle. He knew of the old Chongun's reputation, so he sought to defeat Chae-yun and become even more famous. The master's students didn't like the idea, but the old man accepted the challenge anyway. They all went to a big arena, where the young warrior started to insult the old master. He kicked some stones in his directions, shouted many cursing words, with offense to his ancestors and path.

For about two hours, the young warrior did everything he could to provoke Chae-yun, but the old Chongun stood still. At the end of the afternoon, tired and humiliated, the impetuous warrior left.

Disappointed by the fact of their master accepted that many insults and provocations, the students asked him, "How could you stand there among such disrespect? Why didn't you use your sword, even knowing that you could lose the battle, instead of showing yourself to be a coward in front of us?"

Chae-yun replied, "If someone comes to you with a gift and you don't accept it, to whom the gift belongs to?"

"To the one who tried to give it to you," One of the students answered.

"The same goes for anger, enviousness and insults," said the Master, "When they are not accepted, they continue with the one who was carrying it."
