The Eldership of Neese

Born in the 34th year of King Yuri's rule, the warrior Neese quickly made a name for herself as a kind and caring duelist. But above all, she held honor. Seeing her adamant concern for those around her, and the honorable ways she conducted herself, the Chongun elder Gildenstar took Neese under her proverbial wing, tutoring her in the ways of the Chongun. In Neese, she found a perfect student. Always helping others, looking for nothing in return herself, Neese became an ascended walker in the 35th year of Yuri, and immediately began to make her mark on the Sodo.

None had expressed such genuine love and caring for their circle like Neese, and Gildenstar as well as the other walkers saw this, and took action. Some say that Neese was made guide very quickly, a mere three years after her birth, but this is only because she earned it very quickly. Working closely with Gildenstar, they changed many facets of the path, and installed new ideas and systems, such as the ranking system within the Chongun, and the Tribunals, where estranged citizens could come for solace and pardon. Becoming guide in Yuri 37, Neese immediately began her training of young walkers, none of which able to pass the rigorous and self enlightening tests applied to them by the ambitious Neese, who tested every detail of her trainee's persona, in the hopes of creating great Chonguns, such as herself.

Neese went on with her Guide and Chongun duties for another two Yuri's, shining as an exemplary Chongun and friend to all she encountered, until she recieved word from her mentor and friend, Gildenstar, that she was stepping down. Gildenstar needed a break from the hectic world of eldership, the stress quite intense; a sabbatical was in order. Evaluating all of her present guides, Gildenstar found that Neese was the least flawed and most true of heart of all, and chose her as her successor, but for a brief time only; it would later extend into a permanent eldership.

The night that Neese was made Elder, there were many outcries from other Chongun disputing the raising of Neese as the Elder, who was thought to be too young and inexperienced to become elder, and that a much older and (according to them) wiser Chongun, Gamefire, should be Gildenstar's successor. After a heated dispute in the circle, the guides StarFox and Gamefire left or were dismissed, for allegedly cursing and acting out of the creed. For instance, Gamefire informed Neese that he would never think of her as elder (though the validity of this is disputed). Posts flooded the board giving the poster's opinion and side of the matter, many in favor of the newly formed DarkMaverick/Gamefire coalition, and many in favor of Gildenstar's choice of Neese as Elder. People quit in protest, and the fight was soon dragged out to the controversy hungry Community Board, where mud was slung left and right by Chongun and non-Chongun alike.

The conflict was taking it's toll on Gildenstar and Neese, and their supporters, who were constantly under fire from now solo DarkMaverick supporters. DM, as he was known to many, had set up informational areas for people to read private conversations held between himself and Neese, and himself and Gildenstar, and contacted numerous Chongun attempting to bring them to bed with him, so to speak. The ruse worked on few, but was deflected by many, and his claims grew weaker and weaker, and the issue began to lose spotlight. He sited petty things, such as the "spell abuse" of Gildenstar when she removed his extended-Chongun-ranking title. Neese was not given a chance to act as Elder, for she was constantly being forced to explain herself, and being called names, and just plain ridiculed, from those in and out of the circle.

Despite the ridicule from within the circle and the community, Neese was miraculously able to raise outstanding guides, including but not limited to, CinderZ and Kacarot. Along with raising new guides, Neese appointed many to new positions, including, and again, not limited to the legendary Buyan Defender Mentes as the Ambassador of the Chongun path, the mighty Solider Daryn to the path leader of all Chongun soldiers, the ever lovely Yosen to the head of the Tribunals, and myself, Kamahamahe, to the Librarian and Shaman leader positions.

Although she made excellent changes, and was altogether an outstanding leader during her position of power, many continued to harass her due to the hazy crusade of DarkMaverick, and she began to feel overwhelmed by this. She was not given a chance to shine as she would surely have done if the transition from the beloved Gildenstar to her own eldership had gone smoothly. This disgusted her, as it would disgust anyone. At an ascension, in the early 40th year of King Yuri's administration, she said she was leaving the path. This shocked many, but despite the shocking revelation, the path still embraced her, and it was this night that she ascended Kacarot to his guideship, and handed her Honor sword first to myself (who was at the time, upset and foolish and rejected it), and then to CinderZ, a much more worthy subject anyway. This was a symbol of her stepping down as elder, which she told the path would come later, her time in this realm was almost up, and she had no plans of returning. She then dropped a second surprise, when she told the path they would be voting on their new elder soon, which is something that the path had never done.

After note: Gildenstar was voted back into office considering she was taking only a temporary leave to begin with. Neese returns from time to time to display her disgust with the actions of several of the walkers. As a tribute to the path she once knew and loved though she has created several new maps for the Chongun path to enjoy.
